Linde has signed an agreement with Lantmännen Agroetanol to expand the capacity at Norlic, our LCO2 plant in Norrköping, Sweden. The plant, which was inaugurated in 2014, extracts and purifies CO2 from the production of bioethanol of Lantmännen Agroetanol.
Norlic is a joint venture between Linde (90.1%) and Lantmännen Agroetanol (9.9%).
The expansion of the plant will stabilize and build CO2 supply, and is expected to provide immediate growth opportunities and savings.
The investment amounts to USD 9.6 million and will increase capacity by 100 tonnes per day meeting an increasing market demand.
"With the expansion of Norlic we can meet an increasing demand for carbon dioxide from the paper & pulp industry, as well as from the food industry. This is very positive after several years of CO2 shortages," says Jan Ellringmann, Business President REN.
Linde has a strong market position in REN, market share 57% with 6% annual growth rate (CAGR) the last 5 years. The market comes to more than 70% from the Food industry, and some 20% from Pulp & Paper and other is 10%. Additional growth is expected from the Pulp & Paper industries.
In addition, a relocation of the shipping terminal to Norlic will take place.
